CD EQUIPMENT POOL AND SERVICE COUNTER OPERATIONS |
|
The Computing Division Equipment Pool and Service Counter operations are located on the west end of the third floor at Feyman. The Logistics Services Group staffs the service counter Monday-Friday from 8:00AM through 4:30PM.
The service counter operation handles a variety of high energy physics and computer equipment transactions for Experiments and Computing Division groups, as well as other Divisions and Universities. Off-Hour emergencies may be handled by contacting Lab Security at X-3414.
The service counter is often a good place for the uninitiated user to start. Users can expect general explanations regarding procedure, forms, etc. or to be directed to the appropriate "expert". Whenever possible please call ahead so your need can be evaluated and ensure that you get the best advice possible. It could save you a trip. Our general information number is 630-840-3447.
· Pick-up or make delivery arrangements for PREP POOL equipment releases authorized by the Equipment Manager, CD Management, or other designee. All requests for new equipment issues must be submitted through the PREP request process.
· Exchange defective equipment originally issued by or currently supported by the POOL.
· Drop off any CD supported equipment for repair on a "Return to User" basis (i.e., no exchange). Logistics Services will either process the equipment through the CD Equipment Support Services Group or ship it off-site for vendor repair through our "Expediting" service.
· Turn-in (CD owned) equipment which is no longer needed. This includes equipment going back into the POOL or equipment that is to be considered for Excess or Scrap.
· Pick up newly purchased CD equipment. (P.O. requesters are notified of arrival as part of the Logistics Services receiving process.)
· Handle drop off or withdrawal of RESERVE (Non-Pool) stock for specific projects, groups, etc.
· Get assistance regarding off-site loan authorization requirements. Service counter staff act as a liaison between the User, CD Management, and the Lab's Property Office.
