The Association for Research Electronic Pools, otherwise known as AFREP, is an informal organization consisting of representatives of electronic equipment pools and the like facilities within the major High Energy Physics laboratories. The purpose is to provide a forum for the discussion of issues of common concern to the operation of specialized electronic pool facilities. These issues can concern administration, standardization, maintenance, repair, inventory control, purchasing and vendors.
The AFREP group meets on a yearly basis and is usually scheduled to coincide with the IEEE Nuclear Science Symposium. The agenda for these meetings is usually derived from individual agendas brought by the members and recorded in the first hour of the meeting. Minutes are usually kept by a member volunteer acting as secretary for the meeting.
