GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The Mech-Tronics Nuclear Models 503 and 504 Linear Gates perform a pass or inhibit decision on linear input signals. Input signals are passed for pulse height analysis only upon indication, by the presence or absence of a logic pulse at the gate input, that some external constraint has been met. The Model 504 places two 503's side by side in a double width module.

Gate duration is selected by a calibrated front panel control over a 1 usec to 10 usec interval. A front panel switch selects normal or block mode. When in the block mode a positive gate input inhibits the passage of the linear signal, the absence of a gate pulse permits passage of the signal. In the normal mode a positive gate input is required for linear signal passage.

All input pulses are baseline restored, providing a useful count rate range to 20,000 counts per second. The linear gate acts as a unity gain amplifier with an integral linearity of 0.1% over its entire dynamic input range.

COMPATIBILITY
The Models 503 and 504 are fully compatible with the entire family of Mech-Tronics linear, logic and counting modules.
