CAMAC LabVIEW Diagnostic Installation Setup

 

 

Equipment Required:

1.      Desktop PC

·        Operating System: Windows NT Version 4.0 or later.

·        System Requirements: Pentium plus 32 MB Ram.

2.      Adaptec AHA-2940AU PCI-to-UltraSCSI host adapter board.

3.      Jorway 73A SCSI Bus Crate Controller with version 2.8 PALS.

4.      SCSI cable.

5.      CAMAC Crate.

 

Adaptec SCSI Host Adapter Card & Driver Installation:

6.      Power down your desktop computer and remove cover.

7.      Install Adaptec AHA-2940AU into any empty PCI slot.

8.      Reinstall desktop computer cover and power back up.

9.      Once in Windows NT go to Start>>Settings>>Control Panel and double click on SCSI Adapters Icon. You will need to install your Windows NT Operating System disk into a drive to continue with driver installation.

 

 

 

10.  Select the Drivers Tab and click on the Add… button.

 

 

 

11.     An Install Driver menu will appear. Select Adaptec from the Manufacturers list and select Adaptec AHA-294X/AHA-394X or AIC-78XX PCI SCSI Controller from the SCSI adapter list. Next click OK. Windows NT will install the system driver (aic78xx.sys 27KB).

 

 

 

 

12.  Go to (C:)Winnt>>system32>>drivers to check that aic78xx sys 27KB driver was installed.

 

 

 

 

Note: You must use the aic78xx.sys 27KB file size driver for CAMAC LabVIEW Diagnostic programs to work correctly. If NT loaded a aic78xx.sys Driver of a different size file then 27KB it will not work Correctly. Therefore, you will have to copy and paste the aic78xx.sys 27KB file in the drivers folder.

 

 

13.  Next run the Adaptec aspi32.exe program to install the ASPI drivers on your desktop computer. After you install the ASPI drivers, reboot your computer to reflect the new settings.

14.  Now run the Adaptec aspichk.exe program to test whether your system is set up properly for SCSI devices. It should say ASPI is properly installed and is fully operational. 

 

     

 

 

LabVIEW Runtime Engine Installation:

1.      If you do not have LabVIEW install on your desktop computer, you must have LabVIEW runtime engine installed. To install LabVIEW runtime engine copy the lvrt51.exe program to your desktop and click on the lvrt51.exe icon, the runtime engine will automatically install onto your desktop computer.

2.      Next you must copy the following folder and DLL files to your Winnt>>system32 folder (cvirte folder, cvirt.dll & cvirte.dll). The cvirt.dll is a wrapper DLL that has all the entry point to the LVI library functions. The cvirte.dll contains all the code to support the LVI library functions for EXEs and DLLs.

                                   

 

Test System Operation:

1.   Install a Jorway 73A into slots 24 & 25 of a CAMAC Crate. Next install a DTM  

      399 Dataway Display Module into slot 1.

 

 

2.   Connect a SCSI interface cable from Adaptec SCSI Host Adapter Card to the Jorway 73A. Power up CAMAC Crate and reboot your desktop computer.

 

Note: If SCSI connection from desktop computer and a power up Jorway 73A was not made when you first power up your computer. You must reboot your computer to initialize the SCSI bus.

 

 

 

 

3.      Download the DTM 399.exe and the cmjwdll.dll to the same folder on your Desktop computer. Click on the DTM 399.exe icon to open the DTM 399 program. A Program front panel will appear. Next set the Crate Address to the Crate Address set on the front panel of your Jorway 73A. Click the Arrow button at the upper left corner of the DTM 399 program front panel to execute test. The program will pass all tests if installation is correct.

 

 

 

      4.   You are now finished with the CAMAC LabVIEW Diagnostic Installation Setup.
