    Notes:

· In order to complete this installation procedure, you must be able to log in as ADMINISTRATOR under Windows 2000 Pro.
· All files specified in this document are available as a self-extracting ZIP file here.
  1. Power down the computer, unplug AC power cord, and remove the computer's cover.
  2. Install the LSI Symbios SYM20810/SYM20860 into an empty PCI slot, replace the computer's cover, and power the computer on.
  3. The computer will automatically recognize the SYM20810/SYM20860 and install either the "Symbios Logic 8100S PCI SCSI Adapter" driver dated 11/14/1999, Version 5.0.2183.1 (for the SYM20810), or the "Symbios Logic 8600SP PCI SCSI Adapter" driver (for the SYM20860) .
  4. Copy the following files from the file downloaded above to C:\WINNT\system32 on the target computer:
    • cvirt.dll
    • cvirte.dll
    • cvirt (folder)
    • wnaspi32.dll
The cvirt.dll is a wrapper DLL that has all the entry points to the LVI library functions.  The cvirte.dll contains all the code to support the LVI library functions for EXEs and DLLs.
  1. Reboot the computer.
  2. Next run the Adaptec aspi32.exe program to install the ASPI (Advanced SCSI Programming Interface) drivers on your desktop computer.  After you install the ASPI drivers, reboot your computer to reflect the new settings.
  3. Now run the Adaptec aspichk.exe program to test whether your system is set up properly for SCSI devices.  It should say ASPI is properly installed and is fully operational.
  1. Power down the computer and connect the Jorway 73A to the SCSI interface by connecting a SCSI cable from the LSI Symbios SYM20810/SYM20860SM SCSI host adapter to either of the Jorway 73A's SCSI bus I/O ports, then power the computer on.
  1. Installation of the LSI Symbios SYM20810/SYM20860 SCSI host adapter is completed.  Please continue with the LavView Runtime Engine installation.
